    Bristol company fined

    Three workers at a company in Bristol were exposed to hazardous chemicals over a four-year period leading to the onset of dermatitis.     New Look's flagship Oxford Street store was gutted by fire in 2007. 35 fire engines and 150 fire-fighters were needed to tackle the blaze. Trade was disrupted at more than 50 Oxford Street shops. New Look pleaded guilty to two breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 following prosecution by the London Fire Brigade.

    The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) today imposed a fine of £2,298,820. This was after the initial fine was reduced by 10% for ITW Limited setting up a comprehensive programme to train its staff in compliance with competition law and a further 20% to reflect savings due to ITW’s admission and co-operation with the CMA under a settlement agreement.
